Beautiful venue, fine food and drink, and equine experts: a perfect combination for any horse enthusiast. That’s what came together on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Battle Mountain Farm in College Grove for the first Equine Round Table. Attendees enjoyed food and drink, sponsored by Nashville Realty Group, and lively discussion of equestrian topics ranging from a snapshot of the horse industry in Tennessee all the way to preparing your senior horse for the winter months. The panel of experts included: Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Charlie Hatcher; Chairman of the Tennessee Equine Commission and owner of Tennessee Equine Hospital, Dr. Monty McInturff; University of Tennessee Equine Specialist, Dr. Jennie Ivey; Attorney, Lynda Motes Hill; Jeff King Stables Owner, Sheila King; and University of Tennessee-Williamson County Extension Agent, Matt Horsman.
Dr. Monty McInturff said of the event, “The Round table event was well attended (100+) with a great group of horse enthusiasts coming together to share ideas on how we all can promote the horse industry. Our hope is that we can have more of these type events, all over the state, to shine a light on our diverse equine population.”
Organizers are beginning preparations for another event in 2022.
About the venue: Battle Mountain Farm is a working 240 acre farm located in College Grove, Tennessee. The Hatcher family bought Battle Mountain Farm in 2015 to expand their dairy operation, Hatcher Family Dairy. They built a climate controlled event barn and renovated the existing homes. Battle Mountain Farm offers event, corporate meeting and wedding packages, as well as three rental properties for overnight guests.
