Blues City Dressage Dedicated to the memory of Jessica King The Blues City Dressage show, USEF, USDF recognized and presented by Delta Dressage Association, was held July 9-11 at the Show Place Arena, Memphis, TN. An attempt to escape the summer heat, classes were scheduled from early morning to noon, then resumed in late afternoon and continued into the evening. Judges for the show were Kem Barbosa (S) of New Jersey and Robin Breuckman (S) of North Carolina. The show was dedicated to the memory of Jessica King, who died of AML (Acute myelogenous leukemia) cancer at the age of 12. Jessica loved dressage. It was also a benchmark for younger sister Allie King n her first competition since her equine accident nearly three years ago, from which she suffers severe Traumatic Brain Injury. It was a much celebrated show for the King family, who hosted an ice cream social in memory of Jessica at the event. “Allie rode the para equestrian Grade IV individual test and scored 62.9%. Allie was full of nervous energy prior to the test, but all smiles after the test. It was a fantastic weekend and a monumental moment in time. She faced her fears and got back in the arena,” the King family said.
