From Rachel Gore
We excited to announce that the Mustang Heritage Foundation has agreed to begin Melia’s new Youth Incentive Fund! It will be effective for the 2016 season and hopefully beyond, as it is sourced solely by donations.
Here is a short description:
Extreme Mustang Makeover 2015 Fort Worth Youth competitor Melia Gore from South Padre Island, Texas and her Bureau of Land Management 2-year-old Mustang Disco “Discover Destiny,” shared their journey. [see article in the Oct. 2015 issue, Mid-South Horse Review http://www.midsouthhorsereview.com/articles.php?id=5911]
From the exciting adoption day at Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma, BLM Mustang facility, to training at home for 120 days, to competing in her first ever equine event, and bringing the Mustang home to ride on the beach and join our family, we wanted to share with you this incredible family adventure of bonding, companionship and learning to communicate with one of America's beautiful and highly intelligent wild Mustangs.
After the event, Melia donated $1000, 50% of her prize money, back to the Mustang Heritage Foundation to start the Youth Incentive Fund, which will provide financial assistance to selected Extreme Mustang Makeover youth trainers. The fund will help offset the costs of training, Mustang pickup, and care during the training period. The Youth Incentive Fund will be supported entirely by donations. The Gore family asks that you please contribute to help kids experience this awesome journey with their own Mustang.
