The Tennessee Paint Horse Club (TPHC) finished their 2018 show season with the TPHC Spooktacular Finale on October 27, 2018 in Lebanon, Tenn. at the James E. Ward Ag Center. This was their sixth show of the season, with locations varying from Murfreesboro to Cleveland to Lebanon, Tenn. Horses at this two-judge show were evaluated by Cindy Girardier (Missouri) and Stephanie McConnell (Indiana).On Friday night prior to the show, the club held its annual Chili Cook-off and had some Halloween fun with costumes and candy. Some costumes were seen throughout the day on Saturday and more made an appearance in the costume class as the last class of the day.
Several season-long activities ended at the show. The TjPHC had been selling tickets for a Custom Cowhide saddle stand at each show throughout the year, and at the last break, the winner’s name was drawn; Howard Norman get to take home the beautiful stand. Thanks to the efforts of some members collecting their Pinnacle horse feel labels throughout the year, this collection and the partnership with Tennessee Farmers Co-Op, the club will have $286 to go towards awards for next year.
The show had good numbers in several divisions. The youth division was once again well represented, and the competition and camaraderie among the exhibitors was good.
Plans are already in place for the 2019 show season. The first show of the year will be the March 9 -10 at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro. This will be a four-judge combined show and will include a consignment sale, open to the public, with show apparel, tack and more. The second show will be at the Tennessee Livestock Center on the campus of MTSU in Murfreesboro on May 11-12, and will have two judges on Saturday, two judges on Sunday. The next show will be July 13-14 at the Tri-State Ag Center in McDonald (Cleveland), TN; this show will be two judges Saturday, two judges Sunday. The final 2019 show will be September 28-29 in Harriman at Roane State Community College and will be a four-judge combined show. Each show will include an All-Breed Division and “Pilot” Youth classes, which are for youth 18 and under, any breed horse, walk-trot only, and are geared toward youth who are just getting started in the show world. Each show will have thirteen division awards, including the All-Breed and Pilot youth.
