The Central Tennessee Dressage Association (CTDA) hosted its annual Ole South Dressage shows August 7-9, 2020 at the Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, TN. The weekend’s dressage began with the Ole South Prelude on August 7, followed by two days of the Ole South Classic, August 8-9. Judge was Fran Kehr (S-TX).

Lynne Glaus, CTDA communications chair, explained the difficulties of hosting a show during a pandemic. “The CTDA Board worked closely with Show Secretary, Kathy Grisolia, to make sure we followed the USEF COVID-19 guidelines. After donning your mask and receiving your temperature check (thanks to our EMT, Eric Nieble), you would have noticed the quietude – almost tranquility. No spectators were allowed; there was only one arena with one judge and one scribe (with Plexiglas shields), no announcer, fewer volunteers and fewer competitors. The stabling area, which is usually a bustling place, was sparse with teams spaced safely around the barn. Even the warm up arena was calm. In this alien world, you may have missed the camaraderie, the unmasked smiles, tears, seeing old friends, and the multitudes of gorgeous horses. But you may have also appreciated the overall ‘chill’ of the event. It was low-key, but it gave us an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. We did what so many sports clubs are still unable to do: we created a safe place for our athletes to perform, gauge their progress, and advance their horses’ careers.”

Moriah Siebert wrote: “It may have been a small show this year, but it was quiet, peaceful, and lots of fun. Thanks to all of you who came out to the show!”

Caitlyn Massey of Arlington, TN rode two horses at the show: Mikato at Third level, earning scores of 67.162%, 66.375%, and 64.500%, and Paschal at Training Level, earning high scores of 72.241%, 71.731%, and 66.034%. Caitlyn received the High Point JR award on “Packy” with the 72% score. Pascal is owned by Jill Schilmoeller.

Daniel Patterson showed his Sacred Showdown at the Classic at Third Level, scoring 63.375%. At the Ole South Prelude, Daniel and Sacred Showdown earned 67.875% at Third Level.

Pam Millin and Magic Stars Eclipse showed in the Classic at Training and First Level, and earned a 65.000% in Dressage Seat Equitation AA.
