John Johnson brought his JX2 Team Roping back to the Show Place Arena in Cordova, Tenn. on August 13-15, 2021. The “Best of Memphis” Super Qualifier featured WSTR Qualifiers, Gold Buckle Beer Open, nine USTRC Roping divisions, and USTRC Legends 11.5 and 9.5 over 40.

Friday the 13th brought some double-sided luck to the event. The good luck was that the Memphis area got a welcome, well-needed rain on Friday afternoon, dropping the temperatures by at least ten degrees. The bad luck was that some areas got more rain than drainage could handle and flooding resulted – including the indoor arena at the Show Place. Johnson commented on facebook: “Well, we have one for the books! This is the first time in JX2 history that we’ve been flooded out of an indoor arena!” But in a couple of hours, the teams were back roping again. Johnson had praise for the JX2 cattle crew, Jamie White, and the Showplace staff for their work in getting the arena back to operational.
Some of the weekend’s winners:

The Best of Memphis Super Q Friday High Money Header and Heeler: Michaela Williamson and Cody Skelton
The Best of Memphis Super Q Saturday High Money Header and Heeler: Bryan Freeman and Tom Bridges
John Johnson won second in the #9.5 USTRC with Casey Martin and third with Bruce Barnett.

Find more winners posted on the JX2 and NTRL Team Roping facebook page.

Next Jx2 roping event is Labor Day weekend in Cleveland, Tenn., Cash Cow and Truck Roping on Sept. 3-5, 2021. (How do you rope a truck?)
