Walla Walla, Wash. – The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) has unveiled 206 Scholar American recipients and six University of Tennessee at Martin representatives are on the prestigious list.
The Scholar American accolade is bestowed on NIRA members that have earned points at a 2018-19 NIRA-sanctioned rodeo, been in college for more than one term, earned at least a 3.5 cumulative Grade Point Average, and have been nominated by their coach.
Representing the UT Martin men’s team on the list are Robert Haley, Weston Hamilton, and Cody Hogan. Haley is a senior agricultural business major from Fairhope, Alabama, and Hamilton hails from Tellico Plains, Tennennessee and is a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering. Hogan is a sophomore out of Chapel Hill, Tennessee who is currently majoring in agricultural production.
A trio of UT Martin cowgirls also grace the list: Casey Allen, Shayne Mallory, and Raegan Taylor each earned the academic honor. Allen is a senior from Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, majoring in marketing. Mallory is a sophomore accounting and finance major out of Miller, Missouri. Taylor, a Camden, Tennessee native, graduated with a degree in health and human performance last spring.
