On November 17, 2019, the Shaws of Senatobia opened the Waverly Arena to BuckWild Bucking Stock for a Sunday Funday of Bull Riding, attended by family and friends of Bull Riding. Twenty-one riders, from Arkansas, Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee, including Junior riders and one Saddle Bronc rider, squared up for an exciting afternoon.
BuckWild Bucking Stock is a collaborative of team members and their respective bucking bulls. Sunday’s bulls were from BuckWild Bucking Stock, Duncan Cattle, Rocking MC, and Hart Productions. The Bulls were the big winners Sunday with only two riders covering in the first round. The top three riders were offered a Bonus Round, and the Bulls won, again, 3-0.
Justin B. Dickerson, the CEO of BuckWild Bucking Stock team, told the crowd, “We love bulls and bull riding. We want you to enjoy watching these riders and bulls as much as we do. We want to expand the opportunities for people that don’t know about bull riding to learn, and if you leave here today with any questions, then I have not done my job.” He kept a rolling commentary and thorough explanation of who, what, when, why and how; from the bucking chutes, to arena floor and back pens throughout the event, the job was well covered.
A saddle bronc rider wanted to ride in the event, but, unfortunately a bronc was not available. But in true BuckWild fashion, they cowboy’d up and adapted by putting a saddle bronc riggin’ on a bull.
Austin Belue of Hickory Flat, MS, who rides in the SPRA & PCA, said about the Sunday Funday, “You couldn’t ask for a better pen of bulls anywhere.” Austin went against bull #Z2 Sippa Slim, owned by Hart Productions of Collierville, TN. “He was a very hard bull to ride and not very fun to get on.” Sippa won the match by unseating Belue in a hard left twisting turn.
Lucas Mooningham, a PRCA and PBR rider from Independence, MS, thought the day was a good event for families to come out and spend time together. Lucas went against #1606 Dolla Bill, a BuckWild Bucking Stock bull, in the first round for an 81 point ride. That awarded him a $650 payday. Unfortunately, in the bonus round, #645 Chunky Gypsy Blues won the matchup.
The other rider that covered in the first round, Tyler Lewis of Pineville, Arkansas, drew Duncan Cattle Company’s bull #413 “Up a Creek” and covered for an 80 point ride, gaining a $390 paycheck. Tyler is a high school Ag teacher who is a member of the IPRA, Amped Up Bull Riding Tour, and Arkansas Cowboy Association. Bragging on Sunday’s event he said, “The bull riding event was a great time; any time I can get on good bulls is a great day. I didn’t know anything about the bulls I got on. A few buddies told me what they knew about Up a Creek before I got on him, and they all said they had never seen him covered. I didn’t know what to expect, and I think that helped me stay on him. The bonus bull bucked me off, but I’d love to have another chance at him. I know I can ride him the next time. I made a small mistake and he was able to throw me off.” Tyler’s bonus round bull was #625 McChicken, owned by the Rocking MC.
Ashley Moss, the accountant for BuckWild Bucking Stock, felt “the Sunday Funday on our home ground of Senatobia is amazing. We got to share our BuckWild lifestyle with our family and friends, who might not get to travel to see us in other places. We hope to offer more Sunday Fundays starting in March 2020. Hopefully, more family and friends will come and fall in love with the BuckWild life, too.”
