On Saturday August 17, 2019 Ripley Bit and Spur Club hosted a ranch rodeo, organized and judged by Mr. Paul Reel of Triple R Cattle Company. The event brought out 18 teams that competed for the top spots of the night in these events: Double Mugging, Trailer Loading, Sorting and Branding. The rodeo goers got front row seats to some real cowboys showing off their skills and doing what they love. A couple kind hearted clowns showed up to have some fun and pass out balloons and candies for the kids.
During intermission there were events for kids of all ages. For the littlest cowboys and cowgirls, there was a chicken chase and the kids got to keep the chickens they caught, as well as prize money for each buckaroo who participated . The middle aged kids got down and dirty with a greased pig chase that resulted in a first and a second place winner, in addition to prize money for each participant. For the oldest and bravest of the rowdy bunch, there was a calf scramble, which also awarded a first and second place along with prize money for each participant.
We’d like to thank each of the sponsors that contributed by giving donations for the events, all the teams that came out to compete, and all the families that came out to show support. Also , a special thanks to the Downs family for collecting sponsors, setting up, and putting in the extra effort to make it a great time for everyone.
