The Germantown Charity Horse Show provided plenty driving opportunities, both formal pleasure clases and fast action, precision driving classes.
Maria Roberts drove Rollingwoods Cookie Time to the Junior Exhibitor Carriage Pleasure Driving class on Wednesday evening. Natalie Hanisco was second with Spur Run Chantilly Lace, for owner Lisa Seaberg. Ann Kimberlin’s Lyric was third. Reita Parham’s Down’s Delight placed fourth and Jorja Jones drove Wanda Chancellor’s Flying Diamond’s Twist-n-Trot for fifth.
In Wednesday evening’s Single Horse driving class, Taylor Hanes drove June Villa’s Feathered Horse Pink Panther for first. Pam Anderson drove Rose Marie Lawson’s Milo for second. Ann Ince’s River was third. Reita Parham’s Down’s Delight, another Feathered Horse entry, was fourth. Imogene Erb was fifth with Kentucky Savannah.
Wanda Chancellor took top honors in the Single Pony driving class on Wednesday evening with Rollingwoods Movin’ On Up. Ann Kimberlin was second with Lyric. Third was Joanna Wilburn with Rollingwoods Berry Last One, and Dr. Ruth Wilburn drove Rollingwoods All Mine for fourth. Jocelyn Atkinson was fifth with Rosmel’s Rapunzel.
Thursday evenings Carriage Obstacle Course was more exciting than a barrel race, as drivers had to negotiate two sets of three barrels in the fastest time possible. Joanna Wilburn showed the best speed with Rollingwoods Berry Last One, and came back to take fourth with a pair: Rollingwoods Back In Black and Berry Last One. [Wilburn was second with the pair in Thursday night’s Open Pair Horse or Pony Pleasure Driving Anne Showden was first with Whelm & St. Paul.]. The Scurry Races are another fun, fast-paced driving event. This time it was Nora Land in the winner’s seat, driving Rollingwoods Back In Black. Sarah Foster was second with Major. Joanna Wilburn was third with Rollingwoods Berry Last One, and Jorga Jones drove Wanda Chancellor’s Flying Diamond’s Twist-n-Trot to fourth. More Rollingwoods ponies placed, with Maria Roberts fifth with Cookie Time and Wanda Chancellor fifth with Movin’ On Up. Anne Snowden was seventh with Whelm & St. Paul.
The Best Carriage Dog class is another crowd favorite. Entries were: Rosmel’s Rapunzel, Jocelyn Atkinson driving. Rollingwoods Movin’ On Up, Wanda Chancellor driving.
