The 2017 USTPA Region 3 & 4 Finals were held in Tunica, Mississippi at the Tunica Arena & Expo Center September 30-October 1, 2017. With $20,000 added money and a chance to qualify for the USTPA Schaefer World Championship, November 7-12, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas, the event drew cowboys and cowgirls from across the regions. Region 3 includes Louisiana and Arkansas. Region 4 includes Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Organizers were Brian McClain and Noah Sodrel.
Team Penning was held on Saturday and Ranch Sorting on Sunday. Each of the Team Penning divisions on Saturday, except Youth, offered 60% payback and $2400 added money with a 4-ride limit. The Youth Penning offered 100% payback and $400 added money with a 3-ride limit.
Sunday started with Cowboy Church, and Ranch Sorting began after church. All the sorting divisions offered 60% payback and $2400 added with a 4-ride limit, except Youth Sorting, which offered 100% payback and $400 added with a 3-ride limit.
Winners of the #3 Ranch Sorting were Kevin Reese and Scott Phillips. Winners of the #6 Ranch Sorting were Michael Evans and Nick Mills. Winners of the #9 Ranch Sorting were Joseph Zito and Dustin Johnson. Winners of the Open HC Ranch Sorting were Noah Sodrel and Brian McClain. Winners of the Youth Ranch Sorting were Shiann Buckner and Kristin McClain.
