The Germantown Charity Horse Show (GCHS) Royal Ball was held once again at Woodland Hills in Cordova, TN on March 8, 2013. The annual “debutante” style ball presents the Queen and her Royal Court, who serve as ambassadors, and work, for the annual charity horse show. Radio celebrity Steve Conley served as master of ceremonies, describing each princess as she made her way down the stairs, escorted by her dad. A string quartet from the IRIS Orchestra provided special music for the presentation of the Royal court. This year’s queen is Cameron Marie Kawell, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Kawell. The show will be held June 4-8 in the heart of Germantown, TN at the GCHS arena on Old Poplar Pike.
Horse show President Susan Winn remarked about this year’s upcoming show and the charity that the show supports: The Exchange Club Family Center. She introduced Germantown Mayor Sharon Goldsworthy, who presented Queen Cameron with a proclamation from the City of Germantown. Queen Cameron expressed her delight and gave thanks for the opportunity to serve as the show’s Queen and praised the work done by The Family Center. The formalities completed – the dancing began, with the Queen taking the first dance with her dad. Dance music was provided by Front & Beale, a Memphis-based band with a wide-ranging repertoire of music, from Katy Perry to Donna Summer to Otis Redding.
