Joe Beaver’s Superstar East of the Mississippi Roping

The first annual Junior Superstars East of the Mississippi Roping was hosted by Joe Beaver at the Southeastern Arena in Unadilla, Georgia, December 31, 2020 – January 2, 2021. This was the first time that Joe has hosted a Superstar Roping event outside of Texas, and it drew a whopping 300 entries.

The event offered 10 & Under Breakaway, 12 & Under Breakaway, 15 & Under Girls Breakaway, 19 & Under Girls Breakaway, and four divisions of Tiedown roping: 12 & Under, 15 & Under, and 19 & Under. The show finished with Open Breakaway and Open Tiedown.

Several young Tennessee ropers competed and won money and prizes. Chism Goodrich of Humboldt, Tenn. was the Overall High Point roper of the weekend, also claiming 12 & Under Breakaway Champion and 12 & Under Tiedown Champion. He won a saddle, two buckles, a rope can, leather jacket, and $5438 in cash and prizes.

Owen Gillespie of Huntington, Tenn. was first in the Average both days and was Overall High Point roper in 10 & Under Breakaway.

Sam White of Scott’s Hill, Tenn. was third in the Average in 12 & Under Tiedown on Thursday, Dec. 31. He also won third and fourth in 12 & Under Tiedown on Friday, Jan. 1.

Connor Griffin of Skullbone, Tenn. won third and fourth in the Average in 15 &Under Tiedown.

Lane and Cy Webb of Cookeville, Tenn. competed. Lane was second in Open Tiedown and fourth in Tiedown 19 & Under. Cy was fifth in one round of 12 & Under Tiedown.

Marshall Cox of Puryear, Tenn. competed in 10 & Under Breakaway.

Jacob Rush from Henderson, Tenn. competed in 15 & Under Tiedown.

Grady and Aubrey Garrett of Livingston, Tenn. competed in 12 & Under Breakaway.
