The Lexington Carriage Classic Pleasure Driving show ran June 20-23, 2019 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. What a great place to drive! It was a weekend for elegance, spit-and-polish, and dressing to the nines!
Competitors from across the country traveled to show in this USEF-approved Pleasure Driving show. The judge for the weekend was Nicole Cable of Batavia, NY. Mickie Bowen of Unionville, PA was the Technical Delegate.
Driving classes were held in the covered arena behind the American Saddlebred Museum. There were Turnout, Reinsmanship, Timed Obstacles, Fault and Out, and Working classes for single pony or horse, pair horse or pony, and tandem/multiple. There were classes for Utility Vehicle, Park Bonneted Phaeton and Park Wicker Phaeton. And, of course, all classes were offered for the VSE, too – Very Small Equines. In addition, there were classes for Coaching, including appointments, timed obstacles, pleasure, best team, and quick change. Fun classes were the Costume Class (won by “Lady Gaga,” aka Patti Wolf) and Carriage Dog Class. The Picnic Class was a highlight of this year’s Lexington Carriage Classic.
All entries were automatically entered in the Concours d’Elegance. The winner was judged to present the most elegant effect and turnout throughout the show. Vehicle and harness were inspected to ensure correctness, restoration, and careful maintenance. Attention was paid to the personal appearance of the driver, groom(s), and passenger(s).
