The Dixie National Quarter Horse Show, sponsored by the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association, ran from February 13-18, 2018 at the Mississippi Fairgrounds in Jackson, Mississippi. The show attracted over 800 horses and over 9,000 entries in the week’s classes.

On February 13-14, 2018 were the roping events, including Tie Down Roping, Heading, Heeling, and Breakaway, finishing with the Watson Quality Ford Roping Challenge.

Reining and Ranch Riding are on the schedule for Thursday February 15 in the Equine Center, with Halter classes & Western Riding in the Farnam Coliseum.

The reining classes took over the Equine Center on February 15, with Ranch Riding later in the day. In the Farnam Coliseum, it was show time for the halter classes, with Western Riding in the late afternoon.

Friday February 16 started with Showmanship in the Farnam Coliseum, followed by Western Pleasure and Horsemanship classes. Meanwhile, Trail classes started at 10 a.m. in the Equine Center.

The highlight of Friday night was the Free Style Reining in the Farnam Coliseum.

Saturday started with the Youth Halter classes and Showmanship classes in the Equine Center. After the afternoon break came the Small Fry classes and Youth Horsemanship and Western Pleasure.

In the Farnam Coliseum were the English riding classes, with Working Hunter and Equitation classes.

Sunday started with the driving classes in the Farnam Coliseum, followed by the cute Small Fry riders. The English Hunter and Equitation followed.  

Sunday’s show finished with speed events in the Equine Center, with barrel racing and pole bending.

All week long the Dixie National Equine Expo was going on in the Trade Mart. There were vendors from  across the nation offering the latest fashions, tack, and everything imaginable horse-related. There were also free seminars topics such as nutrition and horse care, as well as the new ELD Mandate on Saturday.
