Columbia, S.C. Head Coach Boo Major is proud to welcome Germantown, Tenn. native Carly Alder to the University of South Carolina equestrian program. Alder recently signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Carolina family for the 2017-18 season.

“We are very happy to have Carly join our hunter seat squad,” Major said. “Growing up around the sport of equestrian means she has the best in ‘horse genes.’”

Alder joins South Carolina from Faith Heritage Christian Academy. She is the daughter of Blake and Allison Alder and has one sister, Clay. Alder comes from an equestrian family; her mother works as a trainer and her father is a course designer.

Alder has experienced great success on the youth circuit prior to her time at Carolina. She qualified for the USEF Medal Finals in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and she finished eighth at the Maclay Regionals in 2015. She also qualified for the Maclay Finals in 2015 and 2016, with a top-20 finish in 2015.

“Carly has a wonderful style of riding that will be very helpful to us early on in her collegiate career,” Major added.
Alder is a strong student with a 3.8 grade point average. She is a regular honor roll recipient at Faith Heritage.
