Rob Seal of Meridian, Mississippi passed away on November 1, 2017 at age 48. Rob ran the Lauderdale Agri-Center in Meridian for 17 years and was actively involved with the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association and the Mississippi 4-H Horse Program.
Rob did just about anything that was ever asked of him, with no questions asked, and would complete tasks on a high level. He often checked tack and equipment for me at the Mississippi 4-H Horse Championship, brought equipment for ranch classes, and did whatever it took, from before the show began until the last horse competed, to make sure enough help was present for the show to be successful. Rob served for four years on the 4-H Horse Advisory Council and provided important input into the direction of the Mississippi 4-H District and State Horse Shows. For many years, Rob hosted the Southeast 4-H District Horse Show at his facility in Meridian and worked to provide sponsors for all the award belt buckles, block rooms for district show families so the judge’s room could be complementary, and did what he could to make that show be enjoyable for all 4-H youth involved.
Seal was born in Opelika, Alabama on December 8, 1968, at the time his dad was studying veterinary medicine at Auburn University.
Seal was an avid horseman, certified farrier, and president of the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association for two terms. He owned several state champion and reserve world champion halter horses.
Funeral services were held on November 3, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mississippi Quarter Horse Youth Association, address to: MQHA Scholarship, c/o Susan Cain, 2636 Lake Circle, Jackson, MS 39211 or to the Mississippi 4H Horse Club, c/o Dean Jousan, Box 9815 Mississippi State, MS 39762, designate Scholarship fund on memo line.
