The first USEF/USDA rated Dressage show of the spring season at Mid-South Dressage Academy carried the “Easter” theme: Bunny Hop Dressage Show, April 2-3, 2016. On a beautiful, sunny but cool spring day, 37 entries filled the show with rides from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Kari McClain, USEF “S” Dressage judge, with USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals, as well as Gold, Silver, and Bronze Freestyle Bars, plus being a USPC “A” Graduate, was the prestigious judge for the show. Her headquarters is Miari Stables, located in Olympia, Washington.

Organizer Elizabeth Clifton said this was a partner show for the National Dressage Pony Cup; the annual show will be at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY on July 8-10, 2016. “We had four ponies a day competing,” Elizabeth said. There was one in Training Level, one in First Level, one in Second Level, and one in Third Level. “We’re all energetic about ponies! We’re having such fun!” Elizabeth commented.

Elizabeth gives thanks to the many volunteers who helped make the show run smoothly: Mary Cour Burrows (paddock master, ring steward, gatekeeper, and photographer); Susan Dalhke (lunch lady and scribe); Jordan Wright (scribe); Gabrielle Callahan (scribe); and the amazing Marty Lindberg (too many things to list).
