In the heart of historic “downtown” Rosemark, Tennessee, visitors to the Country Fair on Saturday, September 26, 2015, could see all kinds of livestock, including several horses, a mare and foal, cows, chickens, and others. White Oak Farm of Atoka, TN brought their handsome Tennessee Walking Horse stallion Silver Express and black TWH All American City Slicker. There were some beautiful Appaloosas on display, and horses saddled for rides.  Triple H Cattle brought some of their Angus and Hereford cattle for folks to see. One could buy brown, blue, or tan eggs laid by Rosemark resident hens; local honey, and hand thrown pottery. Visitors could savor home-made ice cream and choose from a wide selection of lunch fare. There were displays of historic artifacts, information about Tennessee Wildlife, 4-H, and Clean Energy. And, of course, there were all sizes of tractors on display. In the meantime, the Northeast Shelby County Rural Association has been working hard to “Keep It Country” in Rosemark and all of northeast Shelby County. The organization, along with the Rosemark Civic Club, was successful in defeating proposed annexation by Lakeland, TN, and members of the group have been regularly lobbying state and county legislators to maintain the area’s Rural Reserve status (under TN Public Chapter 1101).
