Woodstock Cuba Saddle Club (WCSC) wrapped up the 2014 show season with a potluck awards banquet on November 22nd at the Quito Community Center in Millington, TN.  WCSC had to fight with rain early in the season, but was able to finish the season by early September.   WCSC grew this year averaging over 200 entries each Friday, compared to 90 entries last year.

WCSC did great things this year with the youth, from the first annual Horseapalooza to car washes, clinics, and the Youth Summer Blow out Party. The club ended the year’s activities with an overnight youth camping trip in Meeman Shelby Forest State Park.

This year’s president Verlon Todd and vice president Lydia Holland, wanted to shake things up with in the SR classes and gaited classes to promote more participation and a little friendly competition. They sponsored a buckle by Gist for SR All Round and Gaited All Around.  This year’s winners were Merry Mattix for SR and Larry Grandberry for Gaited.

The club sponsors the Youth All Round and Pony All Round with saddles for the winners. Colin Mattix was the Youth winner with Alea Munoz as the Pony winner.  The youth group contributed to the awards, too, as they bought trophies for the Lead-in and Buckaroo class, plus trophies for the 12 & under classes for participants who did not place in the top 5 (the club provides awards for top 5 in each class).

WCSC offered a raffle at the banquet and this year’s main prize was a custom saddle stand by Cowhide Customs; the lucky winner was Delaina Reape.

New Offices and Board of Directors were elected this year. The 2015 President is Verlon Todd, Vice President is John Morgan, Secretary is Elaine Johnson, and Treasurer is Carrie Todd. Members of the Board of Directors who take office in January 2015 are: Tammy Becerra, Pamela Troendly, Tammy Kinney, Carmen Jividen, Kevin Stone, Flo Munoz, Cliff Hannah, Delaina Reape, Liz Festerling, and Larry Grandberry.   The 2015 Royalty will be chosen at a show to be held in March 2015.

This year’s award winners for 1st place were given an option of a Gist Buckle, Jacket or Gist Pendant.  2nd place received a custom photo frame by Cowhide Customs, 3rd place received a Bass Pro Shop Chair, 4th place received a Bridle bag & 5th place received a saddle bag.   Trophies were given for 6th thru 8th place in the 12 & under classes.
