Some mid-south riders attended the USDF Region 4 Championships at Maffit Lake Equestrian Center in Cumming, Iowa on Sept. 23-26, 2021, with over 300 horses competing.
Jamie Lawrence rode Parole to Reserve Champion Intermediate I Open (score 66.912) and to 4th place in Prix St. George Open (score 67.721).
Marikay Asberry, riding FaceTime in 1st level AA, placed 3rd out of 33 (score 67.431), and 3rd out of 25 in AA Equitation Final with a score of 83.000. Asberry lives in Rolla, Missouri and boards at Whispering Creek Farms. FaceTime is a 6 year old Westfalen gelding who was imported 3 years ago from Belgium.
Asberry commented about the event: “Our regional classes were very large and competitive, with a lot of very talented partnerships. The venue at Moffitt Lake was fantastic and the outdoor facility hosted good weather for the majority of the show. I have been riding with Jamie since she lived in Rolla during college.”
