The horse community in the mid-south is mourning the loss of well known livestock and horse dealer Arthur Boyden, A.B., Twisdale on November 12, 2013. His good friend and neighbor Aubrey Calvin said that A.B. was known nationwide as a fair and honest dealer. Aubrey said that A.B. had owned as many as a million horses in his 73 years. “Every horse sale in the country knew him, both from public and private consignment sales. He would show up with a 32-foot gooseneck trailer and fill it up.”
A.B preferred saddle horses and loved to ride in field trails, but would deal in any breed. “Many a horse that was headed for the killers found a good home through A.B. He was also known for never getting mad at folks. If someone got next to him on a deal, he would just walk away.”
Mr. Twisdale was an elder at Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marvene Twisdale of Mason, TN; daughter, Alysia Pickard (Dan) of Covington, TN; grandchildren, Easton Lavelle and Ahston Pickard of Covington, TN; and sister, Virginia Atkins of Memphis, TN. A graveside service was held November 15 at Ebenezer Cemetery. The family has asked that any memorials be sent to the Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church building fund.
