Johnny Johnson brought his Jx2 Productions team roping to the Show Place Arena in Memphis, Tenn. on February 10-11, 2018. This was the 18th year for the team roping event in Memphis. The event featured a full USTRC schedule with some 2018 WSTR Qualifiers, as well as the JNFR, a muley roping, and some breakaway roping. Friday’s roping featured the #13 and #12 divisions. On Saturday were the #11 and #10 divisions along with the JNFR division. The Junior Loopers roped at noon on Saturday. Sunday wrapped up with the #8, #9, and #7 pick/draw divisions.
Johnny Johnson said this is a special event for Jx2 and they enjoy doing it every year. “It’s one of our favorite events. People come from all over – north, south, east, and west. It has a good history, good music and good food.” This weekend’s roping drew 1,014 teams for the competition. All winners took home a buckle.
The #7 winners at the Muddy River Classic were: Average: Clint Copenhaver and Troy Ryles. This pair also won the #8 WSTR. Second were Landon and Cole Scheffel. Third were Scott Brown and Doug Fortson.
Classic #8 winners were Tommy Thompson and Clint Swire.
The #9 winners were Chad Hammond and Brad Montgomery.
The #9 Exclusive winners were Jamie and Justin Pardue.
The #10 JNFR winners were Tyler Singleton and Kolby Krieger.
Muddy River Classic JNFR Open winners were Logan Wilson and Tanner Brown.
The #10 Exclusive winners were Joey Hagan and Kaleb Boos.
The #10 winners were Wyatt Cole and Ethan Tays.
The #11 winners were Jonathan Bell and Kaleb Boos.
The #11 WSTR winners were Randy and Morgan Mills.
The #12 Exclusive winners were Brent Duvall and Adam Brown.
The #12 winners were Hunter Crofford andWesley Barlow.
The #12 winners were Dean Wilson and Patrick Houchins.
The #13 Slide Muley winners were Adam Schlechty and Wesley Barlow.
The #13 WSTR winners were Jerald Bierman and Cody Warner.
The #15 winners were Ty Hickerson and Patrick Houchins.
In the Junior Looper division, 6 & Under winner was Kalen Whitfield; age 7-9 winner was Braylo Hester; and age 10-12 winner was Grant Ball.
This was the third event in his 22-event 2018 season. Jx2 will be back in the mid-south March 9-11 in Tunica, Miss. for the Curicyn Big Ticket roping, following in Franklin, Tenn., March 16-18 for the Tennessee Championships. They’ll be back in Tunica April 27-29 for the NTRL World Series.
