On June 30 – July 1, Back 9 Farms in Lavinia, TN hosted a clinic with Austin Anderson of the Texas Trick Riders. Austin and his intern Ashley Pletcher worked with students Saturday on cross-over lunging and on Sunday with trick training.
The participants lunged their horses in preparation for liberty work. All of the horses seemed to enjoy the pedestal training, and the participants were thrilled with the beginning steps of having the horses bow. Many of the horses were bowing by the end of the weekend!
Mr. Anderson entertains across the country and gives a select number of clinics each year. A third generation entertainer, Austin brings a lifetime of knowledge to his work. He started his career at age 4 with his parents in Anderson’s Wild West Entertainment and Equine Themed Show. In 2004, he formed the Texas Trick Riders and since then, has toured the US and Canada thrilling audiences at events such as Breyerfest, Devon Horse Show, Horse World Expo, Midwest Horse Fair, and other state fairs. Austin’s assistant and intern Ashley Pletcher lent a second pair of helping hands. She has ridden most of her life in various disciplines and breeds, including gaited horses. She joined the Texas Trick Riders October 2011. She performed at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and has worked with many professionals including, Walkin On Ranch.
Back 9 Farms is a family-oriented riding and boarding facility located 15 minutes from Jackson and Milan, TN. It includes a state of the art 28 stall barn offering full service boarding, riding lessons, and 5 weeks of summer camp.
The indoor Cover All arena made a wonderful place to host this clinic. Back 9 is a very active barn, showing successfully at local saddle clubs, as winning awards at the state and national level through AQHA, NBHA, IBRA, 4H and the Tennessee State Saddle Club Association.
Many of the Back 9 boarders participated in Austin’s clinic, ranging in age from an 8 year old to teenagers to adults. One participant, Alexis Montgomery, continued training for a week at Austin’s Texas White Horse Ranch in Troup, Texas.
