Bryant Lane Cowboy Church hosted the first in a series of Ranch Rodeos on April
21, 2012 at the Pam Adams Bell Arena in Coffeeville, MS. Twenty teams, coming from Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee, competed.
A ranch rodeo is different from traditional rodeo. It is a competition of teams of four cowboys/cowgirls, competing in four different events: sorting, trailer loading, branding and mugging/doctoring. Each event is a timed event, placing from fastest to slowest. Each event time is totaled for each team to determine the top teams at each event.
Bryant Lane has partnered with Three Trees Cowboy Church in Wynne, AR; Higher Trails Cowboy Church in Paragould, AR and Circle Cross Cowboy Church in Millington, TN to put on a ranch rodeo at each church with the top ten teams coming back for the finals in September or October this year. The next event in the series will be: May 12, 2012 at Higher Trails Cowboy Church in Paragould, AR.
Bryant Lane Cowboy Church is affiliated with the American Fellowship of Cowboy Churches. We meet at Key Arena, on Bryant Lane in Longtown, MS on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Bro. Scott Urban is the pastor. BLCC has a passion for keeping alive the western heritage/cowboy way of life.

1. SORTING- Must sort 5 head in numerical order starting with number called by the announcer. 90 second time limit. For every head sorted beyond the 5 head, team will receive 2 seconds off their time. NO trash across the line. All team members can cross the line at one time.
2. TRAILER LOADING- Trailer will be placed 10 feet from arena wall/fence and end gate will be 25% from entrance gate. Team must sort 2 head, which will be announced by announcer across line and load on trailer. Team can herd cattle onto trailer or rope and drag cattle onto trailer, shut cut gate, load horse in rear compartment, strip ropes from cattle, and all members load inside the truck and honk horn. Trailer MUST be road ready. NO RIDING HORSES ONTO TRAILER.
3. BRANDING-Two head will be released into the arena, team can either head or heel or rope and mug cattle. Cattle must be on their side (all 4 feet in the same direction) and branded, then return branding iron to bucket, strip all ropes from cattle before the time stops. Bucket and branding iron will be at 50% of the arena in the center. Unlimited loops and 4 minute time limit.
4. MUGGING/DOCTORING- Two head will be released into the arena, Team must head and heel or head and mug, tie down cattle (MUST stay tied for 6 seconds), give simulated shot (Carried by one team member), strip ropes before time will be stopped. 4 minute time limit. Unlimited loops.
GENERAL RULES:
· ALL ropes MUST be off horses, if cowboy is dismounted.
· Line will be at 40% of the arena with cattle on the 40% side and working area to be 60% of arena
· All teams collecting points MUST have a team name and pay a $25 membership prior to competing.
· Teams that do not pay a membership must pay a $10 day fee and will not be able to collect points toward the finals.
· All teams MUST have 2 original members in order to receive points toward final
· Rodeos will be rain or shine (in case of a storm, judge will make the call)
· MUST compete in at least 3 rodeos in order to qualify for the finals.
PAYOUT:
· 1st -3rd place will receive money and awards at all rodeos. (each church is responsible for the awards at their rodeo)
· For every 10 teams after 39th team a place will be added to the payout.
ENTRY FEE:
· $200 per team
· $25 membership (must pay in order to receive points toward final)
· $10 day fee (for those who did NOT pay membership)
· Each person can ONLY compete on 3 teams
PAYOUT:
· 60% payback to winners
· 20% to host church
· 20% to finals (paid by church to Bryant Lane Cowboy Church)
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:
· Top Hand, Top Horse and Hard Luck Cowboy will be determined at each rodeo by the delegates (2) from each church. Names will not be announced until the finals. At the finals, the same committee will decide on the OVERALL top hand, top horse and hard luck cowboy from the winners of the series.
