Chula Homa Hunt held their Blessing of the Hounds and Opening Meet at Tilda Bogue near Canton, Mississippi on Saturday November 10, 2012. In addition to the usual Tally Ho Wagons for foot followers, this year’s festivities included a silent auction, a hat contest, a horn blowing contest, and a bagpiper in his Black Watch tartan for the Blessing.
This past summer Tilda Bogue was used for the filming of a yet to be released movie, “As I Lay Dying,” from the same-titled book by Mississippi author and fox hunter William Faulkner. The big lake at Tilda Bogue was used in a scene in the movie, showing horses and mules fording water that came above the horses’ stifles. Riders in the hunt had the opportunity to cross the lake in the same place! The water was a bit deeper, however, and some had to stand on their horses to keep their feet dry.
