Longreen Foxhounds
On Sunday April 22 at Loose Horse Farms, Moscow, TN fifty-five riders moved off in teams of 2 and 3 at 2-minute intervals on the Longreen Hunter Pace course. The course took riders across rolling grasslands, then wound along a bridle path through the hard woods. Longreen members Chip and Tracey Carruthers provided a refreshing tailgate for the participants at the midway check point, with the help of John McClure and Margaret Meyer.
There were six jumping teams and 14 non-jumping teams, all enjoying the opportunity to trot and canter briskly through the beautiful fields and along the winding bridle paths through the woods filled with ferns, buckeye, and maypops.
Riders ranged in age from Kodie Young, age 9, who began hunting with Longreen at age eight on his pony, Penny, to John Bruhwiler, who has hunted many decades with Longreen and Oak Grove Hunts.
This was the first year for the Longreen Hunter Pace to be at this location. Mark Harris and Hugh Boone, along with host Rick Folk, own the 600 acres of Loose Horse Farms. Mark’s wife, Jane and Hugh’s wife, Pam coordinated the food for the hungry guests, with the help of hunt secretary, Joan Walters and others.

1st Place Non-Jumping team: Ed Apple, Michael Gore, Chip Carruthers
Most Colorful: Popping in Pink : Kim Michelson, Kayla Benson, Kim Williams, Laura Bishop, Laura Tarver, Andrea Baroni, Mary Minor, Vicki Fergus
Best Turnout : Melissa Stierle and Ani Carruthers
