Chuckwagon Races

post-title
Bar of Ranch in Clinton, AR is home of the National Championship Chuckwagon Races. Monroe Short and daughter Amanda Weeks, of Crenshaw, MS, raced in the four-up mule category. With Amanda driving the lead mules, they won their heat! Short and Weeks race under the name “Dixie Fire Crackers,” and finished fourth in their division.

There were over one hundred teams racing in seven divisions. Most have a driver, a cook, and an outrider. The horseback outrider must cross the finish line ahead of the wagon to get a qualified time.

Over the nine-day period of the Championships, August 27 – September 4, over 6,000 equines were checked in. For more information about the National Championship Chuckwagon Races, visit: http://www.chuckwagonraces.com.
