Come to the 13th Annual Buck Creek St. Jude Trail Ride on September 23-25, 2011 at Weaver Farms, 92 Weaver Road in Alamo, TN. Last year’s ride attracted 602 horses and riders, with donations of $53,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. This trail ride is designed for everyone, even if you don’t have a horse. We have hay wagons that take the same route as the horses.
Entertainment will feature Johnny Lee and Bobby Marquez (www.bobbymarquez.com) on Friday night and Bobby Marquez on Saturday night, with Daryl and Kathy Holder playing DJ music every afternoon.
Entry fee is $10 per adult (13 years and up) and $5 per child (5-12 years), which covers the entire weekend. Entry fees will be waived for a $100 donation to St. Jude per individual or $200 donation per family. St. Jude gives prizes for donations: $20 lapel pin, $35 Saddle Up T-Shirt & pin, $75 Saddle Up Cap, T-Shirt & pin, $150 Saddle Horn Bags, Cap, T-Shirt & pin.
Negative Cogginstests are required and original papers (no copies) must be shown at the entrance. A photo copy will not be accepted unless it comes from a veterinarian. Out of state horses must have an official health certificate within 30 days with the Coggins papers. No exceptions!
John Gideon (www.gideonvision.com) will be on the trail shooting footage of the entire weekend. DVDs will be for sale. Keita Cole, (www.keitacolephotography.com) photographer, will be taking photos of everyone.
Concessions will be available all weekend of BBQ pork and bologna by “Butt Smokin’ Rednecks,” hamburgers and hotdogs by Carl Perkins Alamo Center, and breakfast food, white beans, cornbread, fries, and homemade cooking by St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Two trail rides will leave Saturday morning; riders gather at 8:30am at front gate, the faster gaited horses will leave first. Slower horses, teams with wagons, and hay wagons will leave at 9:00 am.
At 1:00 pm, hear special guest Lilly Martin, a patient at St. Jude, and bid at the auction. After the auction, enjoy the “Kid’s World” with games of dress a goat, chicken chase, tug of war, calf scramble, and more. See the “Women Only” Rodeo with no rules, where the ladies show their talents with bull doggin’ and bull wrestling.
Saturday at 7:00pm is the “Little Miss Buck Creek Cowgirl Contest” for cowgirls ages 2-12. At 8:00pm, hear some of the best country music around from Bobby Marquez. Approximately 9:30-10:00pm, we will present the amount of donations collected with a huge sparkler celebration.
Other weekend activities scheduled are a mechanical bull, dunking booth, Drug Task Force Dog Demonstration, horse costume contest, scavenger hunt, and some spontaneous surprises.
Sunday afternoon there will be a short ride for those staying over.
