I've seen these wanna be's who call themselves tough,
They wear a fine Stetson hat and their equipment is the most expensive stuff.
But they don't get on to learn or try to be good;
They just get on so they can talk about it and brag and B.S. the ones they could.
The real cowboys won't say anything to hurt their feelings
Or make 'em want to stay home,
'Cause they know their entry fees sweeten the pot
For those who want to win and try to stay on.
Their kind ain't hard to spot; they talk a real ride 'til it's time
For them to get on and show ya what they've got.
When the chute gate swings, it looks like they're trying to fly
And when they hit the ground you hear all kinds of excuses except "I just didn't try."
So when the dust has settled and everyone is going their separate ways,
Be nice to the guy who didn't try 'cause he's the reason the winner got more pay!

Life is full of wanna-be's, especially in sports like football, basketball, rodeo, etc.
It's easy to be a "wanna-be" cowboy: just buy a hat, boots, and a big belt buckle. But don't call him a cowboy till you see him ride.
