On December 5th members of the Nashoba Carriage Association hauled their horses and carriages down to "The River," the Mississippi River that is, for the second annual Harbortown Christmas Drive. The weather was cold and blustery, but ten carriages and about thirty people arrived downtown to hook up and drive. Horses with thick winter coats and drivers wearing lots of layers drove through the quaint streets - to the delight of the residents.
Bob Martin's pair of Friesians led the way with jingle bells and big red bows on their harness. Drivers and ponies wore touches of Christmas red, and carriages were decked with wreaths and garlands. After the drive, the tailgate parties assembled and members toasted the season, as they pledged to continue the tradition no matter the weather! But they hoped next year might be a little warmer.
