East Fork Stables is a trail riding destination on the Cumberland Plateau near Jamestown, TN and two state parks: Pickett State Park and the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. The facility is open year round with a variety of special events, shows, and trail rides scheduled throughout the year.
The 12,000-acre estate contains over 100 miles of equestrian trails, with terrain that encompasses shady forests, sandy trails, open fields, rock formations, waterfalls, lily pad ponds, and flora along riverbanks accessible only by horseback. Riders can enjoy spectacular overlooks and rock formations, and see abundant wildlife such as deer, boar, wild turkey and the occasional black bear.
Accommodations for riders and horses include: a 48-stall barn, 224 covered stalls, paddocks for turnout, arena, and pavilion. There are camper hookups and campground camping slots, bunkhouses, houses and cabin rentals. They claim to serve some of the best meals around, including grilled prime rib, chicken, and a salad bar.
Visitors can hitch a ride around the campgrounds with mountain man Fuzzy Orange (yes, that is his real name) on his mule-pulled wagon. Mules Gilmore and Myrtle are steered the old fashioned way: with verbal cues, Gee and Haw. "Step Up" tells them to go forward.
