Horse Country At Artreach Gallery Art works from sculpture to paintings to photography depicting the horse During the month of June the theme at the Artreach Gallery in Germantown, TN was Horse Country, featuring a variety of art works from sculpture to paintings to photography depicting the horse. Although Horse County ran through June, there will still be plenty of equine art at the gallery throughout July. The gallery’s two in-house artists, Sheryl Hibbs and Sandee Sander, were artists for the Germantown Charity Horse Show’s (GCHS) 60th Anniversary art contest “The Horses Are Coming.” Sheryl painted “The Gift Horse,” now on display at the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, and Sandee painted “Bloomer.” Both worked together on the foal, “Champ,” on permanent display at the entrance to the Germantown Charity Horse Show Arena. Sandee painted the artwork for this year’s GCHS program cover. Both artists do commission paintings, manage the studio/gallery full time, and rent space at the gallery to other artists. Horse Country featured the work of seven Memphis artists, four Nashville artists, one Connecticut artist, and Joan Jannaman of Hendersonville, TN. One of the Nashville artists, Lori Putnam, is a nationally acclaimed artist, as is Anda Styler the Connecticut artist. Photographs by Donna Farnsworth Crisp were on display.
