Fair Meadow Farm Celebrates 10th Anniversary Near Collierville, TN. This August Sara and Mark Matz celebrate the tenth anniversary of their Fair Meadow Farm near Collierville, TN. Their son Brad rode for many years in hunter/jumper shows and is now a small animal surgery resident at Auburn University. Her other son Jason is a metal artist and First Responder in Moab, Utah. Sara and Mark pride themselves on providing a boarding facility that puts good horse care as top priority, along with a good instruction program in both hunters and dressage, and an atmosphere where “our boarders can have a good time, whether you compete or just ride for pleasure,” Sara emphasized. Aimee Waldron, trainer at Fair Meadow, gives both hunter and dressage instruction, and specializes in bringing young horses along. Ainee started riding at age 9 and spent her teenage years showing the hunter circuit in Florida. She started teaching at age 19, and has been schooling and showing hunters here for four years. Introduced to dressage, “I have ridden with some nice trainers, like Michelle Renshaw, Debbie Hill, and Jodie Kelly. I like to keep my knowledge going so I can pass it along.” She has a young horse she will soon start in the Green Hunter division. Sara believes, “We have a good instruction program here. We want students to feel that they’re progressing, whether they have high aspirations for competition or not. We want all to make progress, feel confident where they are riding, and are happy with their horse. Good riding is good riding regardless of the discipline. The basics are the same.” Sara praised the people at her barn: “We have a nice mix of boarders here, mainly adults and mature young women. We have a down to earth, close-knit group. They all help get projects done around here, from painting jumps to setting up the dressage arena. We all go to lunch together on Saturdays after we ride.” The 18-stall facility is full, with 19 horses on the place, plenty of grassy turnout, a hunter course and a full size dressage arena. Sara is all about horse care n “keeping the horses happy, health, and safe,” she said. “My boarders never have to worry about the care of their horses. I stay up all night or all day with a horse if it is needed. Boarding is more than just hay, feed, and water. It’s doing everything the horse needs.” One of Sara’s boarders wrote the following anniversary tribute: “Sara's integrity and expertise characterize her approach to providing exceptional care for the horses entrusted to her.
