Tennessee Junior Rodeo Association Highlights By Dee Ann McEwen, Secretary Tennessee Junior Rodeo Association is going strong in Tennessee this summer! In May contestants competed at the Blue Creek Arena where PBR Bull Rider Evan Rasch surprised the rodeo kids and judged both rodeos for TJRA that day. On June 6, the rodeo was held at Baier Arena in Rutherford Tennessee. Ted and Sue Baier, owners of the arena, have been supporters of TJRA for many years. In August, the TJRA rodeo will be in Bolivar, Tennessee at the Bolivar Fair August 7-8, and in Martin, Tennessee where the State Finals will be held at the University of Tennessee at Martin August 28-29. The TJRA consists of about 60 students from K-8 grades. Contestants are from West, Middle and East Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. Rodeo contestants compete in Bareback Girls Breakaway, Boys Breakaway, Barrels, Poles, Chute Dogging, Junior Bulls, Senior Bulls, and Goat Tying. The Tennessee Junior Rodeo Association also has a Wrangler Division for 6-8 graders. The Tennessee Wrangler State Champions will be participating in the Wrangler Junior High National Finals Rodeo in Gallup, New Mexico June 28- July 4.
