Valentine’s weekend (February 12-14, 2016) brought the guys to the Show Place Arena, Memphis, TN for some team roping action at the Muddy River Classic. The USTRC sanctioned event was produced by John Johnson and Jx2. The show offered the usual #8, #9, #10, #11, #12, #13, #15 Handicaps, with Saturday’s Gold Plus #12 and Sunday’s Gold Plus #10 offering 80% payback.
Three Trophy Cowboy Gold saddles were awarded to the high money winner each day. Sunday’s saddle winner was Morgan Mills. On Saturday, it was Brandon Jarreau. And Friday’s saddle winner was Douglas Rich.
The Average winners of the #11, #10, and #9 won Trophy Gist Buckles, as did the Incentive Average winners of the #12, #11, #10, and #9 and the first – third place Average winners of the #8 Pick/Draw.
Friday’s open winners were Austin Nettleship and Douglas Rich. The #15 winners were Tucker Kail and Douglas Rich. The #13 winners were Judd Sanborn and Cody Warner.
Sunday’s #8 winners were Drew and Anthony Fetters. The #9 winners were Morgan Mills and Cole Stewart. In the #10 Gold Plus division, Mark Corzine and Brent Menz were Average winners and Matt Tolbert and Shane Holder won the Incentive. Century winners were Jay Rueter and Bruce Barnett. In the #10 division, Jerald Bierman and Brandon Jarreau won the Average, and Brandon teamed with Rob Waltman to win the Incentive. In the #11 division, Average winners were Jake Pollard and Cole Stewart; Incentive winners were Brandon Jarreau and Bart Stallings.
Saturday’s #12 Gold Plus winners in both the Average and Incentive were BJ Guffey and Tyler Triplett. The #12 Average and Incentive winners were Jarred Sullivan and Skylar Reynolds. The #13 winners were Judd Sanborn and Cody Warner. The #15 winners were Tucker Kail and Douglas Rich. Trophy Gist Knives went to the Average winners of the #15, #13, and #12.
Even the Junior Looper winners got Trophy Gist Buckles. In the 10-12 age group, first went to Ty Brigance, and second place to David Lacour. In the 7-9 age group, Lucas Koehn was first and Brady Smith, second. In the 6 and under age group, Owen Gillespie was the winner, with Wade Loehr second.
