West Tennessee Pony Club (WTPC) held a summer prep camp the weekend of August 15-16 at Spirit Ridge Farm in Collierville, Tennessee. Graduate B pony clubbers August Marshall and Laura Meyer planned and ran the camp. The focus was on helping the attendees prepare for their next Pony Club rating. Some of the activities included a competition for the cleanest mount and to see who was the best at cleaning tack! There were sessions on the requirements of each rating level (including changes for this year), and how to impress the examiner at your rating/certification with your knowledge and understanding of the riding fundamentals, as well as your skills.
The fun continued with games to learn more about parasites and their life cycles, conformation and lameness, and record keeping pony-club style. Members were able to practice various types of leg wraps - polos, stable wraps and shipping wraps - on their own mounts.
The campers finished the weekend with a fun, mounted scavenger hunt/poker run that included prizes for bringing back various, crazy items and crazy poker hands. The campers all agreed that it was a fun-filled weekend!
