Soybean Classic Youth Results
The first annual Soybean Classic Horse Show was a success despite the rain.
Young riders came to Martin from across middle and west Tennessee to ride for over $3000 in awards and prizes.
Weakley County 4-H Horse Club Volunteer Leader, Nancy McKenzie coordinated the show. UTM Rodeo Booster Club president, Russ Finney acted as show manager and announcer. Kay Stegall, CPA
for Alexander Thompson Arnold in Union City recorded barrel times, calculated points and paid the cash awards. Mike Gregory, owner of Hore Hill Farm, Hornbeak, TN judged the Western Division. Dot Starnes, Paris TN judged the Gaited Division and Vickie Reynolds of Martin judged the Hunter Division. Katie McKenzie, Rachel Stegall and Amber Nanney all of Martin were ring stewards. Dickie Alexander, Union City, Ronnie Travis and Richard Stegall, and Rick McKenzie of Martin worked the gates and maintained the barrel pattern. UTM professor, Dr. Craig Darroch signed the riders up for classes.
These volunteers, in addition to the generous donations from sponsors, made the show possible.
Champion Sponsors were: Kyle Crowe Law Offices, Martin, Fuller Partners Martin, Shelia Bell, Agent, Martin Farmers Co-op, Ward Animal Clinic in Fulton, Weakley Co. Fence, The 913th National Guard Engineer Company of Union City, Farm Credit Services, Andy Holt agent, Essary’s Pocket Shell, Dresden, Wal-Mart in Martin and the Dresden Agricultural Trustees. Due do their support this show had great awards and so many door prizes that every entry won something.
The winner of the Over All High Point saddle and Western Division was Jessica Diel from, Kirksey, Kentucky. Clayton Jerrell from Kevil, Kentucky was the Reserve High Point and Western Division Champion
and received a trophy buckle. Megan Aiosa from Paris was 3rd in the hunt for the High Point. Melanie Aiosa from Paris, TN was theHunter Division Champion. She received atrophy buckle. Ashley Brooks, South Fulton was Reserve Hunter Division Champion. Christine Butler from Lakeland was the Gaited Horse Division Champion and won a trophy buckle. Ryne Reynolds of Martin was the Gaited Division Reserve Champion.
3D barrel: 1st Division: 1st place Amber Jo Heathcott of Newbern, 2nd Joseph Heathcott, Newbern, 3rd Katie McKenzie Martin, 4th Trevor Jones 5th Jake Brasher of Lexington.
2nd Division: 1st place Justin Reece, Milan, 2nd Colton Easterwood, Union City, 3rd Ashley Brook, South Fulton 4th Isaac Tucker, Lexington 5th Ashley Brooks, South Fulton.
3rd Division 1st Place Hannah Brasher, Lexington 2nd Stephanie Sanders, Henry 3rd Ashley Brooks South Fulton, 4th and 5th Lauren Kail from Gadsden, TN.
