Waterproof Barn Sneakers — A Must-Have for Equestrians and Outdoor Enthusiasts

If you spend your days walking around barns, fields, or stables, you know how quickly a morning dew or muddy paddock can ruin your day. That’s why I decided to try out these Kerrits' Groundwork Waterproof Sneaker, and honestly, I’m so glad I did.

Functionality Meets Comfort

Walking the property in the early morning used to leave my feet soaked and uncomfortable. Kerrits' Groundwork Waterproof Sneaker changed everything. Thanks to the internal waterproof PTFE membrane, my feet stayed completely dry—even when walking through wet grass or hosing off horses. The ribbed knit collar is also a game-changer, keeping hay, dirt, and shavings out without sacrificing comfort or causing friction around the ankle.

What I appreciate most is the sneaker-like support these shoes offer. They give me the cushioning and stability I need while tackling chores like changing water buckets or strolling through muddy outdoor trails. Plus, on cold, damp winter days, keeping my feet dry has made a noticeable difference in staying warm and comfortable throughout the day.

Design and Features

  • Breathable Yet Waterproof: While fully waterproof, the membrane allows breathability, which prevents my feet from feeling clammy during longer wear. However, note that the tongue is water-repellent, not fully waterproof, which is important to keep in mind.
  • Stability and Traction: The K-Stride™ midsole reduces fatigue even after hours on my feet, and the OrangeZone™ Lite outsole provides enough traction for slippery surfaces.
  • Removable Anti-Microbial Insoles: The insoles keep my feet feeling fresh despite long wear, plus they’re easily removable for cleaning.
  • Easy to Put On: The loop tab on the heel is a small but appreciated feature, making these effortless to pull on and off.

Care Tips & Fit

Cleaning these sneakers is simple—just rinse the exterior with cold water and air-dry. To keep them looking sharp, you can freshen up the midsole with a Magic Eraser. I’ve avoided soaking the tongue, as per the care instructions, and that has helped maintain their longevity.

Sizing-wise, if you have wider feet or are in between sizes, I recommend sizing up by half for the best fit.

 The Bottom Line

These Waterproof Barn Sneakers are my new go-to for stable work, outdoor tasks, and even casual runs to the coffee shop (because, yes, they look that good!). They’re comfortable, functional, and keep my feet dry no matter the weather or workload.

If you’re an equestrian, stable worker, or outdoor enthusiast like me, I can’t recommend these enough. They’ve become an essential part of my everyday gear—and they’re worth every penny.
