The Tennessee Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) presented the Lucky Seven Classic Quarter Horse Show May 4-8 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Judges for the show were Rick Christy, Theodore Grose, John Tuckey, Tracy Willis, Manita Mckool-Defoor, and Matt Howell. Becky Ruehle at Ruehle Photographix LLC was the official photographer for the show. To see more photos, visit https://www.ruehlephotographix.com/site/ and Ruehle Photographix LLC on facebook.

The show manager was scheduled to be Casey Devitt, but when Casey’s son Cody passed away unexpectedly, horse people stepped up to offer support. One special individual, Christian Jauntig, stepped up to take over management of the TQHA Lucky 7 Classic show for the Devitts. As the owner of Topline Event Management, Jauntig has much experience managing horse shows. And the topper was that Jauntig requested that the Lucky 7 Classic management fees still be paid to the Devitts. The show began on Wednesday with the Hunter classes all day. Thursday’s show began with the youngest riders: Small Fry and Leadline and moved on to Trail, Western Pleasure and Western Riding, Ranch Riding, and finished with Reining. There were plenty of NSBA classes every day of the show. In an absence of pleasure driving entries, Friday’s show began with Halter classes, followed by Showmanship and, later, Ranch Riding and Reining. On Saturday, the Hunters and Jumpers were back in the arena, with riders showing their precision style in Equitation classes. The show finished on Sunday, Mother’s Day, with Trail, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, and Western Riding.

Class numbers were strong, particularly in Trail, Performance Halter, and Ranch. In addition to over 150 classes to enter, some special events were included in the show. On Saturday afternoon, folks attended a Derby Party to watch the exciting Kentucky Derby.
