Mells Foxhounds hosted its Opening Meet and Blessing of the Hounds on November 20, 2021 at Sugar Valley Farm near Lynnville, Tennessee. Ninety riders in four flights and multiple spectators participated in the Blessing, officiated by Rev. Bill Forrest.

Huntsman and Master of Fox Hounds (MFH) Charles Montgomery brought 12 ½ couple (25) hounds to the days meet. The Mells pack is unique to the mid-south in that it consists of several breeds and cross breeds of foxhounds. The hunt territory is very hilly and the English hounds have the drive to keep a run going. The Penn-Marydel hounds have the voice to enable hunters to hear the pack over the next hill and the Fell Hounds, which come from the mountains in England and Scotland, have the stamina for these steep Tennessee hills. Charles also has a first rate staff of both professional and honorary Whipper-ins to provide great sport for everyone at Mells.

There were two coyote runs that day, and riders got an opportunity to see some great hound work.
