Horse showing was back in action after a hot weather hiatus at Brownland Farm in Franklin, Tenn. with two back-to-back fall horse shows: Fall I, Sept. 8-12, 2021and Fall II, Sept. 15-19, 2021.
Fall I Show
In the highlight of the Fall I show, the $30,000 Grand Prix, David Jennings captured both first and second places. David piloted Follow Me around the jump-off flawlessly to seal the blue ribbon and top prize of $9,000. Then a few minutes later, he rode Cendatus PS to second place and the reserve prize, $6,600.
Sydney Long guided her Take Two to a third place finish. Teri Kessler and her Sambuca De Lurberri, coming off their win in the $7,500 Welcome Stake, rounded out the top four in the class.
In the Welcome Stake, Haley Gassel and Iliano van D’Abelendreef were the reserve winners, besting David Jennings and Cendatus PS, who placed third.
Another feature of the Fall I show was the Hunter Derby. Friday’s $7,500 Brownland Farm HunterDerby drew 32 entries, with Kelly Mullen and Menelik taking the blue ribbon, while Jennifer Alfano earned second on Silver Lining and third on Enzo W.
Brownland Farm gave a “huge shout out to Isabel Harbour and her Fitz for winning the High Point Amateur in this week’s $7,500 Hunter Derby. Isabel was presented a $100 check from sponsor Cornerstone Equestrian and a $50 gift certificate from Franklin Horse Supply. Well done in a class of 32 amazing riders!” said Michelle Anderton.
In the $1,000 Brownland Pony Hunter Derby, Amy Krebs was first on Somermist Storm Warning, while Emma Kate Greer took second on Penten’s Dashwood.
The WASH/NAL Hunter Classic saw Robin Schwartz best the 20 entries for first place on Back In The Game. Reagan Bugg and Brewsky were second.
One of the more popular hunter divisions was the USHJA 3’Hunter. Overall USHJA Hunter 3’ division winners were: Karen Kogon and her Levi tied with Evanston, Donald Sheehan riding for owner Audrey Flattich, for Champions. Robin Schwartz (Back in The Game) and Nicole Harris (Le Diplomate) tied for Reserve Champions.
There were plenty of entries in the Medals classes at this show. In the Southeast Childrens’ Medal, Lux Paine won the blue on Centina, while Kitty Walters was reserve on App For That.
Amy Krebs won the Washington Pony Medal on Somermist Storm Warning, with Sophie Ferrara taking reserve with Gabbana. Krebs was third on her pony in the Marshall & Sterling/USEF Pony Medal.
Ferrara and Gabbana were the blue ribbon winners in the Marshall & Sterling/USEF Pony Medal, and Emma Kate Greer was reserve with Penten’s Dashwood.
THIS Children’s Medal winner was Rebecca Love with Ciaco’s Son S, while Kathryn Ditmars was reserve with San Man Dash.
Madison Hill and King took top honors in the USEF/Dover Hunter Seat Medal, with Shiloh Roseboom and Venice occupying the reserve spot. Ava Swords and Indian Summer were third.
The Green Hunter 3’6”division was popular, too, with Naomi Gillen riding three horses in that division. She rode Kirsten Monmaney’s Rochambeau to champion and Maria Anello’s Veni Vidi Vici to reserve champion. She also rode Abigail Arnold’s Keebler, who earned a first, a second, a third, and two fourths in that division. Owner Maria Anello rode Veni Vidi Vici to champion in the Adult Amateur 36-39 division.
