Teams from the Southern Run Pony Club (SRPC) attended the Midsouth Regional Pony Club Mega Rally at the Kentucky Horse Park June 19-26, 2016. Pony Clubbers from all over the region competed in rallies including Tetrathlon, Show Jumping, Dressage, D Rallies, and Eventing Rally. Although they are a member club of the Deep South Region, Southern Run Pony Club sent teams to compete in Show Jumping, D2 Rally, and Eventing Rally. The C team was comprised of 14-year-old Sydney Doss, 13-year-old Julia Jennings, 12-year-old Cristen Cleveland, and Stable Manager 13-year-old Caroline Shook.
Caroline finished third in the team competition. Cristen finished ninth individually in the Starter division. Julia finished sixth in the Intro Division, and Sydney finished second in the Intro division.
SRPC also sent a D2 team to compete in the D Eventing Rally. Pony Clubbers in this division competed in dressage, cross country, and show jumping. 11-year-old Emma Claire Haley, 12-year-old Sophie West, 9-year-old Mia Dunford,13-year-old Katie Coleman, and Scramble team member 13-year-old Ray Lynn Hughey from Cedar Hills Pony Club finished fourth overall in the team competition.
The C Show Jumping Team also competed in Eventing rally, which ran along with the Midsouth (recognized) Pony Club Horse Trials. With only three riding team members, the SRPC team did not have any scores to drop. Sydney, Julia, and Cristen all jumped clear in both cross country and show jumping to finish on just their dressage scores. The team finished in second in the riding competition and third in Horse Management. Julia Jennings finished tenth overall in the Pony Club individual competition, and Sydney Doss finished second individually.
All three girls also placed in the Open Horse Trials. Julia Jennings and One Under Par finished ninth in the Open Beginner Novice Division 1. Cristen Cleveland and Summertown Blues finished seventh in the Open Beginner Novice Division 2. Sydney Doss and Road Less Traveled finished on their lowest dressage score to date – 29.8 penalty points – to finish fourth in Open Novice.
