If you thought it couldn’t get more exciting than the Grand Prix followed by the Stick Horse Race, the excitement kicked up another notch with Carriage Barrel Racing on Saturday night9June 12, 2021) at the Germantown Charity Horse Show. Laura Lawson and KT Barnabus started the runs, finishing in a conservative 76.951 seconds. Alex Clark driving Rollingwoods Walk Softer was faster, but it was Princess Natalie Hanisco driving Tinker Toy (Tiny) who stole the show so far. Fans cheered on Tiny as he raced around the barrels in 56.576 seconds. That put them in first place so far.
Re-set your cute meters for Cherries Jubilee, Nancy Degan’s performing pony, who entered with his signature “flourish.” The barrels were taller than he is. He managed a time of 62.762 seconds, but unfortunately Nancy made a technical error by taking the barrels in the incorrect direction.
As is her tradition, Joanna Wilburn likes to go last with her Rollingwoods Berry Last One to see if she can outpace her competitors. The team flew around the barrels and raced through the finish timers, clocking 45.163 seconds, besting “Tiny” by over 11 seconds.
Placings:
1st: #63 Rollingwoods Berry Last One, Joanna Wilburn
2nd: #10 Tinker Toy (Tiny), Natalie Hanisco
3rd: #233 Rollingwoods Walk Softly, Alex Clark
4th: #75 KT Barnabus, Laura Lawson
#373 Cherries Jubilee, Nancy Degan
