After having to cancel both Tennessean Dressage shows in 2020, the Central Tennessee Dressage Association (CTDA) hosted the Tennessean Express and Tennessean Dressage as separate shows on June 12-13, 2021. This year the Tennessean shows were held “at the beautiful ThorSport Farm in Murfeesboro, Tenn.,” said Show Secretary Kathryn Grisolia . “It was a smaller show, but we had quality horses and very game riders. The temperatures for the weekend were well into the 90’s with a heat index close to 100 degrees. We had several competitors get their qualifying scores for Regionals and two who got their scores for their Silver and Bronze USDF medals.”
Exhibitor Kathy Massey commented about the facility: “They have their own patented ThorTurf footing, which was great throughout the show. Their barns are beautiful and airy. Situated on 600 acres, it definitely is away from outside noise and distractions. The CTDA show utilized three judges, so some classes had two judges seated.”
The Tennessean Dressage show is a Great American/USDF 2021 Regional Qualifier, a National Dressage Pony Cup 2021 Partner Show, and a member of the Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program. Judges for the show were Janet (Dolly) Hannon (S, CO), Sandi Chohany (S, KY), and Amy Swerdlin (r, FL). The show offered tests from Intro through the levels up to Prix St. Georges, Intermediare, and Grand Prix.
The Tennessean Express had a full day of classes running from 7:53 a.m. to 6:23 p.m. Bethany Gallagher and Lloyd’s Legacy won their First Level test on 75.278% and Second Level test at 71.419%. Bill Hoos and daughter Becca brought a couple of horses to the show. Becca and Royal Ransom won their Training Level class with 69.397% and Bill won his First Level test on Calvados with a score of 68.750%. Caitlyn Massey and Mikato won both their classes: Third Level, scoring 65.750% and in their Fourth Level debut, scoring 64.231%. Kerstin Moltmann-Wilder and Finale were first in FEI Intermediate I, scoring 64.176%. Trish Price and Waverly won both their Training Level classes, with 72.241% and 72.845%.
The Tennessean Dressage show, again, had a full day of classes from 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Caitlyn Massey and Mikato scored 63.974% in Fourth Level to win in the Jr/Young Rider class. Kerri Baxter and Calypso MWF showed in Intermediate II, scoring 61.912% in their test of choice. Sophie Donohoo and Redfield Riptide scored 71.983% to win in Training Level. Elise Franks scored 70.694% on Syrtaki in First Level. Bethany Gallagher and Lloyd’s Legacy scored 74.306% in First Level. Elizabeth Johnston was in the 70s in Training Level with Spruceview’s Diamond Dance (72.172% and 70.086%). Elizabeth Lewis scored 70% in First Level on Play The Ebony Keys. Trish Price and Waverly scored 73.793% in Training Level. Nina Warren and Excelsior scored 70.556% in Fourth Level.
