SOUTHAVEN, MS – On Sunday, March 28, 2021, Eva Daughhetee of Proctor, AR, was crowned Miss Mid-South Rodeo Queen 2021 at the Rodeo of the Mid-South, held March 27-28, 2021 at The Landers Center in Southaven, MS. She is the daughter of Dannie Daughhetee and Robin Pollard.,
Daughhetee is a senior at Evangelical Christian School in Cordova, TN. She shows multi- discipline horses in the American Quarter Horse Association, and she rides with the Central Arkansas Little Britches Rodeo Association. Her rodeo events are barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying and breakaway roping.
Winners of each age category of the Mid-South Rodeo Queen Pageant 2021 hail from four different Mid-South states, including Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama.
In addition to Daughhetee representing Arkansas, the 2021 Teen Mid-South Rodeo Queen is Lila Murphy, 16, of Jackson, MS; 2021 Junior Mid-South Rodeo Queen is Abree McClendon of Bremen, AL, and the 2021 Mid-South Rodeo Princess is Caroline McWilliams of Brighton, TN.
All competitive age divisions were judged in horsemanship, public speaking, modeling, personal interview and impromptu question over a two-day pageant held in conjunction with the Rodeo of the Mid-South, sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
As titleholders, these young cowgirls will represent and promote the 2022 Rodeo of the Mid- South and recruit other young ladies to compete in the Mid-South Rodeo Queen Pageant.
Additional awards included the Pageant Director’s Award, which was earned by Mattie Swint of Ward, AR, the Best Photo Award went to Caroline Gillespie of Town Creek, AL, and also the Highest Silent Auction Sales Award went to Paisley Swint of Clinton, AR, who sold a live puppy. The highest rodeo ticket sales award went to Alea Munoz of Millington, TN, who received a gift certificate for a pair of Justin Boots.
The Senior Horsemanship Award winner was Lila Murphy of Jackson, MS. She received a custom-tooled saddle blanket, made by Van Beasley of Van’s Leathercraft in Byhalia, MS.
The Princess Horsemanship Award winner was Mattie Swint of Ward, AR. She received an embroidered saddle cover, sponsored by the Mid-South Rodeo Queen Pageant.
The Spirit of the Mid-South Award, voted on by the contestants, went to Isabella Atwood of Mount Hope, AL. She received a custom leather purse, sponsored by Jerry and Connie Nanney of Austin, AR.
All winners were awarded a tiara, trophy buckle, banner, flowers by Lynn Doyle Flowers, a custom bronc halter by Zion Tack, a gift certificate to Cowboy Corner in Southaven, MS, and a gift bag of hand selected items. The winner of the Miss age division receives a scholarship award and a custom trophy buckle.
The pageant offered competition in five age levels, including the Miss division, ages 18-25, the Teen division ages 14-17, the Junior division, ages 10-13, the Princess division ages 6-9 and the Sweetheart division ages 3-6.
