Walking Horses

Flat shod Tennessee Walking horses are shown in a variety of classes at the Germantown Charity Horse Show. There are All Day Pleasure, Classic Park Pleasure, Country Pleasure, and Trail Pleasure classes. There is even a Trail Pleasure Driving Class and a Trail Obstacle Class.

In Wednesday night’s English Trail Pleasure Class, Confederate Jazz, owned and shown by Dale Steinmetz, was the winner. Second place went to Jessica Parsons on Vindictive Color.

American Saddlebred

American Saddlebreds are a long-standing tradition at the GCHS. Classes include Western Country Pleasure, Shatner Western Pleasure, Hunter Country Pleasure, Working Western Pleasure, and the $1500 Western Country Pleasure Stake

Speed Racking

A crowd favorite at the GCHS is the speed racking horse division, where the horses set the fastest pace at the show. In Thursday night’s Novice Speed Racking class, Jacob Parks wowed the crowd, racing around the arena to win the class on Willard’s Rowdy Who.

In Friday night’s Open Speed Racking, it was Jacob Parks winning again, this time on Django. Bobby Parks was second on Touchdown. The two lady riders, Maria Perry and Kayla Pattat, were third and fourth on Willard’s Last Stand and Tennessee White Lightning, respectively.

The exciting culmination of the week’s classes on Saturday night drew a large number of class entries, 13, to vie for championship in the Speed Racking Horse Finals. Once again, it was Jacob Parks and Django the champions, with Maria Perry and Willard’s Last Stand in reserve. Micah Moore rode Stormy’s Falcon Fury to third, and Bobby Parks was fourth with Touchdown.

Judge Blair Knight had tough decisions to make every evening.
