On March 21, 2021, Kindyl Scruggs produced a barrel race at the Hernando Saddle Club show grounds in Hernando, Miss. The show offered 12 & Under, Youth, Adult, and Open divisions as well as Open Poles. Photographer Gary Cox went out on a lovely afternoon to capture some of the action. “It was a nice day for a show,” he commented. The show attracted 49 entries in the Open, ten in Youth, thirteen in Adult, eight in PeeWee, and twelve in Poles. Results of the show are posted on Kindyl Scruggs’ facebook page.

Kindyl said that the show had a good turnout and everything ran smoothly. While there was a big show going on in Memphis, she wanted to organize a small Sunday show for people to run outside. The weather was great with “70° and sunny skies.” She said, “Hernando Saddle Club is easy to work with. They have everything clean and ready to go when we get there.”

Readers may remember Kindyl from her barrel racing days with Tennessee High School Rodeo and college rodeo, riding for Northwest Mississippi Community College. She has, in past years, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo. Now she rides with the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA).
