Once again it was Elaina McKinney and WRS Kool Memories who dominated the winning runs at the Lucky Dog Barrel Races, Show Place Arena, Cordova, TN on December 4-6, 2020. The pair turned in the Sunday 5-Star Open Fast Time of 14.255 seconds, and they were also first in the RFD-TV’s American Semi-Finals Qualifier, taking the top slot on a time of 14.370. The pair were the Open Average Champions, Runnin’ With the Pack Average Winners, Saturday and Sunday Open Division winners. Elaina was the Overall High Money Champion: $6,342+ as well as the Youth High Money Champion: $516+.
There was one rider who had a faster time over the weekend: Friday’s 5-Star Open Fast time was Paige Jones and High Cotton Lane: 14.181, which turned out to be the Fast Time of the weekend. Paige was the Friday Open Division winner, taking home $1.491+.
This final installation of the 2020 Lucky Dog barrel racing series featured Select Stallion Stakes with a $10,000 Added Breeders’ Futurity, the American Qualifier and a $3,000 added BBR Extra Mid-South Tour Finale SD Sidepot, as well as a BBR Double Points/Double Qualifier, plus $6,500 added Lucky Dog Runnin’ With the Pack Sidepots.
The other Top 10 American Semi-Finals Qualifiers were: Dustin Angelle on VF Born Famous (14.415); Graysun Tice on Kan perk three (14.459); Sarah McCormick on Down Town Streakin (14.522); Halle Laswell on Famous Fire Walker (14.550); Paige Jones and High Cotton Lane (14.592); Sara Withers on Frenchmans Perks (14.597); Merrick Moyer and Frosted Cookies (14.603); Megan Jamerson on Deep Laughing; and Shelby West on Oh Hes Streakin(14.604).
There were 35 entries in Saturday morning’s Peewee, with Blaise Thomas and Cades Music winning the 1D with a time of 15.562. Fifteen ponies ran on Sunday morning, with Sheridan Shumpert and Penny winning the 1D in a time of 15.683.
Friday’s Open had 515 runs, but Saturday’s Open had even more: 680 runs. Saturday’s American Qualifier attracted 63 competitors, and Sunday’s Open was packed again, with 561 entries.
