Show Secretary Mindy Hanisco called it a “Blockbuster show!” The ExEL September Showdown schooling show, September 25-27, 2020 at the Germantown Charity Horse Show (GCHS) grounds in Germantown, TN, attracted 163 horse/rider combinations from a multi-state area, including Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Organizer Brittany Kasprack was delighted with the turnout, too. “It’s been awesome! There are lots of entries in our Hunter Derby, and the Equitation Championship is a big draw.” GCHS President Ross Herrin was also on hand “and very attentive to our needs. We’re glad to have backing from GCHS,” Hanisco said.

Friday night’s classes included a jumper relay match and Sunday’s highlights were the Hunter Derby and ExEL Equitation Championship. The show offered free stalls and gave out goodie bags to all entrants. COVID-19 precautions were in place, with masks and distancing required, hand sanitizer available, and hand washing encouraged. “We hope everyone is respectful of others and will do their due diligence. We’re making it work. People are happy to be here and happy to show. No one has said anything negative. Everyone has been so positive,” Hanisco said. Most people I saw on Saturday were in compliance.

One of the new show sponsors was Dappled, which provided new jumps for the show. Libby Willard and Lisa Jackson “manned” the Dappled vendor booth, with ladies clothing, jewelry, and handbags. Libby’s husband builds the jumps, both full size and child size.

Hunter’s Edge Stables wrote: “What an amazing weekend at the ExEL show this past weekend! We had an impressive lot of 28 riders to compete at this show held in the heart of Germantown – a record for HES! Highlights include: “Lucie Bell and Ole Miss’ Cascari: winners of the ExEL Hunter Derby out of 40 entries. Maggie Dixon and her Brighton Whimsical: Champion of the Pony Hunter Division (first in every class in that division) and first in the Open Equitation Flat II, out of 21 entries.”

Robin Young and Izak, coached by Laura Lesko, were winners of the ExEL Equitation Championship.

Lucie Bell and Cascari also won the ExEL Equitation Show Down, and the Jumper Relay Match on Friday night.
